Summary
The Vice President, Payments and Technology Policy represents the association and advocates its policy positions regarding payments and bank technology before financial regulatory agencies, private-sector organizations, and the Congress.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Fosters and manages ICBA’s strategic relationships with public- and private-sector organizations shaping payments and bank technology policies and practices in support of community banks including the Federal Reserve System, regulatory agencies, Nacha, The Clearing House and others
- Represents ICBA with regional payments associations and other relevant industry organizations as assigned in a manner that maintains our high standards for professionalism
- Possesses demonstrated expertise across multiple payments domains, including but not limited to card payments, emerging payments, and digital payments solutions and technologies; provides subject-matter expertise internally and externally
- Stays abreast of regulatory, legislative, operational and market developments in areas of responsibility. Tracks and analyzes payments and technology trends and expertly synthesizes complex information to forecast the impact on community banks
- Solicits community banker input to assist in the formulation of ICBA policy positions and advocacy initiatives
- Develops and communicates ICBA positions in a variety of communication channels, including but not limited to policy resolutions, regulatory comment letters, position papers, work groups, and other related forums
- Researches and creates briefing documents, presentations, papers, reports and other documents for ICBA and industry publications to advance policy goals
- Speaks at ICBA and industry conferences
- Responds to media and banker inquiries in a timely manner, as well as other requests for information in areas of expertise
- Provides staff support to ICBA representatives serving on related industry boards, advisory councils, work groups, and task forces
- Engages in professional growth and development opportunities; attends seminars and conferences related to payments and emerging technologies
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum seven years of related experience in the financial services industry or with a bank, financial regulatory agency, financial services/payments organization or trade association
- Expert knowledge of payments and banking; knowledge of banking and payments regulations are valuable
- Minimum four-year college degree preferred; industry certifications are desirable
- Experience in policy advocacy and government relations are highly desirable; demonstrated ability to develop and execute advocacy strategies that will advance ICBA’s objectives
- Strong critical thinking, analytical and execution skills
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills required; the ability to articulate complex issues in a clear and concise manner are critical to this role
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of team. Excellent interpersonal skills, a proven ability to successfully collaborate with others by building productive relationships to produce measurable results
- Strong leadership, time management and organizational skills; demonstrated ability to prioritize, problem solve, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and complete deliverables and projects on-time
- Manage effectively by adapting to change in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

- Ability to travel up to 20-40%
- May be located remotely; DC area preferred
