Job Description
Physicians for Social Responsibility - Los Angeles (PSR-LA) is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Grant Writer who will work closely with PSR-LA’s fundraising team to support grant writing. The successful candidate will play a critical role in securing government and private funding opportunities that support our mission.
Position Overview
This Grant Writer will work with PSR-LA’s Director of Development, Executive Director, Development Associate, and other program staff to support PSR-LA’s overall grant fundraising efforts and develop grant proposals and reports that showcase PSR-LA's impactful programs and projects. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of writing successful grant proposals, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of the non-profit sector.
Scope of Work
- Conduct interviews with program staff and review PSR-LA’s Strategic Plan, Programmatic Work Plans, and past grants to gain a comprehensive understanding of our mission, vision, work, and language.
- Write high-quality grant proposals and reports for government and private foundation grant opportunities, including narratives and administrative information
- Coordinate the development of grant budgets with the Finance team, Development team, and staff
Qualifications/Skills
- At least 2-3 years of experience as a professional grant writer with a track record of funded proposals.
- Knowledge of the government and private grant application and writing processes in a nonprofit setting.
- Ability to coordinate the completion of a grant with appropriate program staff and ensure timely submission of proposals.
- Excellent writing skills, with the ability to write about complex topics and communicate PSR-LA’s mission and programs to potential funders in a clear and compelling manner.
- Ability to produce well-written, persuasive, and concise grant proposals that produce successful applications to various funding agencies.
- Strong copy editing skills with attention to detail.
- Deep understanding of the intersection of public health, environmental health, and justice.

- Bidder's References: Include at least two professional references with contact information (email address and phone number).
