RISE (Responsible Industry for a Sound Environment), a trade association located in Arlington, VA, is seeking a full-time Policy Coordinator.
The Policy Coordinator will provide support to accomplish association policy and planning objectives and is responsible for managing and coordinating with team members in assigned policy project-based work. The focus of the Coordinator’s work will be in state legislative and regulatory advocacy. The Coordinator reports to the President.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor state and federal legislation and develop legislative and regulatory assignments, such as tracking state and federal legislation and regulation that impacts specialty pesticides and fertilizer, participating in stakeholder and industry meetings, or assisting on issues management projects.
  • Create and distribute, working with relevant lead staff, two weekly newsletters focused on state legislative and general regulatory issues.
  • Engage in research, writing, and other activities to support the organization’s advocacy outreach and development.
  • Monitor federal and state legislative and regulatory hearings, briefings, and webinars.
  • Maintain external relationships and serve as the focal point for functions and activities of the association.
  • Manage and organize member and industry-wide events, providing on-site coordination as needed.
  • Lead in development of electronic and written materials used to promote RISE and distributed to members, such as one-pagers and talking points.
Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree required in environmental science, conservation, natural resource management, and/or public policy or a related field.
  • A minimum of two years similar work experience required.
  • Association or non-profit experience preferred.
  • Must have strong command of the English language.
  • Must have exceptional attention to detail.
  • Must be highly organized and proficient at managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • High technical proficiency with MS Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook).
  • Able to initiate action and follow-through with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain professionalism in interpersonal, verbal and written communication.
  • Travel may be required throughout the year (less than 20%).
