SUMMARY: The Administrative Assistant is a critical role in a fast-moving social services organization. The Administrative Assistant is the face of Lutheran Settlement House (LSH) organization, sitting at the Fishtown location’s reception desk. This individual is responsible for creating a welcoming environment, taking ownership of the front desk space and all responsibilities that coincide with that position. This position is 30 hours/week, 9:00am-3:00pm, Monday - Friday.

Primary Responsibilities:  

  • Welcome visitors to LSH and direct people to the appropriate departments
  • Field all incoming calls and handle inquiries as needed, ushering clients to the correct department, and providing accurate knowledge of the services we provide
  • Receive and log deliveries and notify staff of incoming packages
  • Input program data into CiviCore database
  • Assist with office tasks, including copying, filing, mailings, etc.
  • Professionally engage with clients in-house providing respectful and compassionate care
  • Problem solve with clients in need of services, by distributing the proper resources and information
  • Assist with the distribution of the food through the food pantry

Qualifications:  

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Ability to quickly learn computer applications such as our CiviCore database
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Friendly, customer service attitude
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential materials
  • Knowledge of proper food handling
  • Ability to multitask and adjust to frequent change
