Job Description

The U.S. Senate Select Committee on Ethics seeks a Staff Assistant to provide administrative support to the Committee. The Staff Assistant’s responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: answering phones and routing calls, managing the reception desk, assisting with the Committee’s Financial Disclosure program, data entry, filing, drafting correspondence and other written work, performing research, working with a variety of databases and computer programs, providing support to the Committee’s professional staff, and various projects and administrative duties as assigned.

Applicants must be highly organized and detail oriented, possess exceptional customer service, computer, and communication skills, and have the sound judgment necessary to handle matters that arise before the Committee.

This is a non-partisan position which requires the ability to serve all members of the Senate community equally without regard to their political affiliation and to refrain from activity that could impair the Committee’s reputation for non-partisanship. Applicants are advised that partisan political activity may negatively impact their suitability for hire on Committee staff. In particular, if an applicant has worked as an employee on a political campaign, or as an employee on the staff of a House or Senate committee or personal office, this record of partisan employment may negatively impact the applicant’s candidacy. In evaluating how an applicant’s partisan employment history impacts the Committee’s ability to serve the Senate community in a non-partisan manner, the Committee will consider various factors, including how recently the applicant worked in the partisan office, the applicant’s position in that office, and the applicant’s job duties in that office.

All applicants must possess a Bachelor’s Degree. The Committee is an equal employment opportunity employer.
