Job Description
ISSUE Project Room seeks a Media Editor to play a key role in furthering our mission to foster experimental projects by artists working across disciplines of sound, dance, film, performance, and literature. The Media Editor will assist the Communications Director and members of the Media team in the editing and production of all of ISSUE’s online programming, archival documentation, audio, video, and image files, in addition to supporting ISSUE’s social media efforts, file management, and broader Communications goals. The Media Editor will be a supportive member of ISSUE’s small, collaborative staff, reporting directly to the Communications Director.

A pioneering performance nonprofit founded in 2003, ISSUE Project Room presents projects by interdisciplinary artists that expand the boundaries of artistic practice and stimulate critical dialogue in the broader community. ISSUE plays a vital role in NYC’s cultural ecology, facilitating the commission and premiere of new works and presenting a diverse array of artists working across disciplines of sound, dance, film, performance and literature. Salary
$20 an hour
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create promotional videos, content, stories, and clips of ISSUE’s current and archival programming for presentation on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
- Assist Communications Director and members of the Media team on editing ISSUE programming files, projects, and documentation.
- Prepare, edit, and optimize promotional images and graphics.
- Assist Communications Director with social media publishing and scheduling timelines.
- Help maintain uploads, library, and analytics on ISSUE’s Vimeo account.
- Assist with general maintenance and organization of current and archival media files.
- Provide general support to the Communications Director, including reviewing copy and assisting with publishing media on ISSUE’s website.
- Miscellaneous administrative marketing & communications tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with arts organizations, non-profits, or cultural spaces preferred.
- Proficiency with video editing software Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, VLC, Handbrake, as well as basic Digital Audio Workstations such as Reaper, Ableton Live, and Logic is required.
- Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator is required.
- Strong persuasive writing and interpersonal communication skills are essential.
- Ability to problem-solve and multi-task to meet multiple deadlines is important.
- The ideal candidate will be motivated and detail oriented, with a professional demeanor as well as a positive and proactive attitude.
- Strong computer skills required, including fluidity with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications.
- Interest in contemporary performance practices, including music and sound art, is strongly preferred.
Job Type
This part-time permanent position requires an average of 8 to 10 hours per week, depending on departmental and organizational needs. Scheduling is flexible. Some weekend and evening work may be required for specific artist projects. Extended hours may be required for special projects ahead of the organization’s gala, festivals, or other large programming initiatives. The Media Editor's employment will be in line with ISSUE's Board approved Personnel Policy Manual.
