Job Description
- 7+ years of recent professional communications or public relations experience
- Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, or a related field
- Communications experience with public policy issues working for a technology company and/or government
This role is based in Arlington, VA.
Key job responsibilities
- Develop and manage a broad range of external communications programs and events in support of Amazon’s state policy goals;
- Establish and foster local and regional media relationships by serving as a trusted source and educator about Amazon;
- Seek out and/or create opportunities to further Amazon’s public engagement on public policy issues at the state level;
- Create and execute communications campaigns alongside state policy partners to educate policymakers and media around specific state and local policy issues impacting Amazon businesses;
- Deliver communications counsel to colleagues on the state public policy team on both short- and long-term challenges and opportunities, earning trust across many parts of Amazon’s business;
- Lead and execute special events, including reporter briefings and press conferences, media and policymaker tours/events at Amazon buildings, and other policymaker events;
- Support creative content creation, ranging from opinion pieces and blog articles to digital and print ads;
- Drive issues management programs with a policy component and serve as key communications counselor on crisis issues; and
- Develop creative, effective approaches to difficult communications challenges.
