Congresswoman McIver seeks a Communications Assistant

Position Overview: The Communications Assistant will play a pivotal role in Congresswoman LaMonica McIver’s communications team, supporting the creation and execution of the Congresswoman’s digital and written communications, and assisting in drafts of releases, quotes, talking points, and speeches. This position will focus on maintaining an active online presence, creating content, managing social media platforms, and drafting written materials to support the Congresswoman’s legislative goals and priorities. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, possess strong writing skills, have keen attention to detail, and be able to adapt to a fast-paced environment. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Grow and manage Congresswoman McIver’s social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.), ensuring timely, relevant, and engaging posts.
  • Assist in drafting and editing press releases, speeches, and talking points.
  • Design digital content including graphics, infographics, and videos to communicate key messages and legislative priorities.
  • Maintain and update the Congresswoman’s website, ensuring timely and relevant information is posted.
  • Draft and send email communications (newsletters, updates, etc.) to constituents, keeping them informed about Congresswoman’s work and priorities.
  • Provide regular updates to the communications team about the effectiveness of digital outreach and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 Qualifications:

  • New Jersey ties and previous Hill experience are a plus.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling content for diverse audiences.
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms, website management, and digital marketing tools.
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and consistency in all communications.
  • Experience with graphic design and video production tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite) preferred.
