Job Description


A Climate Change Practice Lead position is open for immediate full-time employment for qualified candidates with expertise in the climate science field in the climate adaptation sector. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting edge studies and analysis that assesses impacts on communities throughout the United States. Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in climate science or a relevant scientific field. A master’s degree in a related field is a plus.


This is a remote position with occasional travel to attend client meetings (e.g., Washington, DC).


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Collect and analyze data to identify trends and make informed decisions. This includes statistical and econometric analysis, and understanding complex systems.
  • Effectively convey complex scientific information to diverse audiences. This includes technical writing, data visualization, and oral presentation.
  • Conduct climate mitigation policy analysis.
  • Support community engagement on climate change topics.
  • Oversee staff providing advanced GIS analysis.
  • Oversee and develop climate change vulnerability assessments, and identify mitigation and adaptation solutions and scenarios to climate change hazards.
  • Plan, evaluate options, develop effective policies, and arrange program actions and resources.
  • Collect and analyze data on greenhouse gas emissions, including developing detailed GHG inventories.
  • Focus on adaptation to climate change, as well as energy and water sustainability. This includes developing change strategies, including communication and training, to implement and plan for sustainability.
  • Experience related to climate impact on water infrastructure, communications infrastructure, human health impacts, and healthcare services vulnerabilities
  • Experience performing local renewable energy project and policy evaluation
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a diverse team
  • Can travel occasionally to attend client meetings (e.g., Washington, DC).


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

(INCLUDES EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, COMPETENCIES, ETC.):

  • Bachelor’s degree in climate science or related technical or scientific field
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience in the field of climate change (can include a combination of advanced degree and relevant work experience)
  • Deductive reasoning skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Thorough understanding of environmental science and climate change
  • Thorough understanding of legislative and regulatory processes related to environmental management and climate change
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, interpersonal, and written)
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Comfortable multitasking on time-sensitive tasks without diminished quality of work
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to effectively self-manage multiple tasks
  • U.S. citizenship is required to meet federal contract requirements.


PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s degree in a climate science or related technical or scientific field
  • Climate sector experience, specifically in the area of climate adaptation studies and analysis
  • Analytical model design, development, and execution (e.g. consumer choice, cost-benefit, and lifecycle)
  • Project management certification and experience
