Position Overview

The Economic Attaché will work under the guidance and authority of the Consul General and Executive Director of the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office in New York (LTIO-NY). The role supports LTIO-NY’s mission of facilitating trade, investment, and business development between Luxembourg, the Eastern U.S., and Canada.

Key Responsibilities

o Provide information and advice on Luxembourg’s business environment and sector-specific opportunities.

o Offer assistance and guidance for setting up operations or expanding in Luxembourg.

o Facilitate connections with key stakeholders in Luxembourg, including government authorities and agencies, financial and business representative organizations, potential partners, incubators/accelerators, the University of Luxembourg, and research centers.

o Organize tailor-made visiting programs in Luxembourg.

o Promote relevant programs, events, and business opportunities in Luxembourg to targeted businesses and organizations.

o Assist Luxembourg-based companies in expanding to the Eastern U.S. and Canada by providing information and market insights.

o Facilitate introductions to relevant stakeholders in LTIO-NY’s jurisdiction, including government and local authorities, financial and business organizations, or potential business partners.

o Engage in proactive business prospection and networking to identify leads for Luxembourg’s ecosystem and targeted outreach.

o Attend industry and networking events to build a pipeline of potential business contacts and opportunities.

o Maintain strong relationships with business networks, government agencies, and local authorities to support the market entry and growth of Luxembourg companies.

o Assist Luxembourg government authorities, agencies, as well as public, private, academic, and research organizations in establishing and expanding their networks and organizing missions and visits within LTIO-NY’s jurisdiction, providing both content and logistical support.

Requirements/qualification

· University diploma or higher in business administration, international business, economics, finance, international relations, political science, public policy, economic development, entrepreneurship, or a related field.

· Relevant experience in trade, investment, business development, or entrepreneurship (preferably in the U.S.).

· Strong understanding of business environments and industry trends in North America and Europe.

· Excellent networking, communication, and organizational skills.

· Ability to work in a multicultural environment with autonomy and a strong sense of initiative.

· Proficiency in English; knowledge of French is an asset.

· Experience and a strong network in the U.S. startup, innovation, and investment ecosystem are valuable assets.

· Annual salary of 8.500 to 9.200 USD, depending on experience and qualifications.
