Policy Research Intern - Washington DC $17.50 / hour
Job Summary:
The Policy Research Intern assists the Intelligence & Government Affairs Dept. in its policy research efforts, supporting the development of presentation materials, writing reports, and researching federal and state legislation. This role provides opportunities to develop research, analytical, and communication skills while working closely with experienced professionals. The intern also attends think tank and trade association events in Washington, D.C., and drafts memos for the Washington Office. Operating at the intersection of policy and global business, the intern conducts research and analysis on topics such as:

- Trade policy
- Energy policy
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Supports research and prepares reports on key policy issues
- Monitors developments in the trade and energy policy arena
- Assists with ongoing research projects under the guidance of Washington Office staff
- Attend events and drafts executive briefings to share insights
Job Specific Knowledge/Skills & Abilities
- Strong research, writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Clear and effective communication, both written and verbal
- Eagerness to learn and contribute to a dynamic policy research setting
- Availability to work 14 to 28 hours per week
- Commitment to a minimum of 2 months, ideally from May/June to August/September
- Proficiency in Japanese is a plus but not required
- Must be currently pursuing or have completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree in public policy, international relations, political science, or economics
