Job Description


As the Public Relations Senior Manager, you will be responsible for developing and executing communications initiatives and monitoring and analyzing developments in the news to tell Visa’s story across news media and corporate social channels. The ideal candidate should be able to work cross-collaboratively with teams on various time zones, in a fast-paced environment and be able to distill complex topics down to newsworthy nuggets with an engaging message for external audiences. This is a newly created position reporting to the Sr. Director, Global Corporate Communications.

Job Duties

  • Develop and support communications programs across owned, earned, paid and social channels in close partnership with Global Corporate Communications team and Content team.
  • Help make recommendations for LinkedIn posts to ensure a regular cadence of proactive and reactive LinkedIn content for Visa’s executive leadership.
  • Partner closely with cross-functional teams to support real-time issues response across news media, corporate social channels and proactive engagement, including managing and coordinating media monitoring and measurement (with agency?)
  • Provide guidance and expertise to global communications, public affairs and several cross-functional teams on emerging trends and issues facing the company broadly. Leverage these insights to inform our broader media and content topics.
  • Develop press materials including press releases, blog posts, pitches, collateral and Q&As.
  • Support development of presentations, briefing materials and documents for CEO, CFO, and Executive Committee members.
  • Support CEO's and CFO's communications strategies and Executive Committee content/editorial planning.
  • Represent Global Corporate Communications in cross-functional event planning and management.
  • Support media relations efforts accruing to Visa’s corporate narrative, including media list development, tracking and reporting and building relationships with top-tier media and analysts.
  • Liaise with media relations agency on external innovation and growth story initiatives.

Locations - This position can be based in San Francisco, New York, Austin, Atlanta, or Washington D.C.

Flex Work Arrangement - Hybrid Position - This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office two days a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of the time based on business needs.


Qualifications


Basic Qualifications

  • 8 or more years of relevant work experience in public relations/corporate communications with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA)
  • Communications experience for a high-profile company/brand, working in a matrixed, multi-national corporate environment.


Preferred Qualifications

  • 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA)
  • You have experience leveraging data for campaign and program optimization
  • You have outstanding media relations skills and relationships, with experience engaging journalists on a regular basis to generate positive coverage and on challenging issues
  • Ability to work independently as needed, anticipate challenges, engage proactively and be a collaborative team player
  • You have the ability to build and maintain positive relationships internally and externally, interacting with all levels of stakeholders, including senior leaders, influencing to drive impact.
  • Ability to communicate information effectively and accurately, verbally or in writing across multiple discipline
  • You are capable of achieving results in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, often on short deadlines
  • You have strong project management skills
  • Demonstrated track record of managing external agencies.

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.
