IFC—a member of the World Bank Group—is the largest global development institution focused on the private sector in emerging markets. We work in more than 100 countries, using our capital, expertise, and influence to create markets and opportunities in developing countries. In fiscal year 2021, IFC committed a record $31.5 billion to private companies and financial institutions in developing countries, leveraging the power of the private sector to end extreme poverty and boost shared prosperity as economies grapple with the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. For more information, visit www.ifc.org.

IFC’s Corporate Support Vice Presidency is responsible for communications, outreach, and partnerships, alongside other core functions including HR, budget, and IT. The Vice Presidency supports the implementation of IFC’s business strategy for effective delivery of our programs to clients and partners, in close collaboration with relevant counterparts across the World Bank Group.

The Communications and Outreach Department is responsible for managing IFC’s communications and outreach strategy with a focus on the Corporation’s business priorities, including cross cutting themes. The department has five integrated units that facilitate strategic engagement with both internal and external stakeholders. The units include: Corporate Communications, Regional Communications, Global Industry and Thematic Communications, Creative Productions, and Public Affairs & Risk management.

IFC’s global business departments – Disruptive Technologies and Funds (CDF), Transaction Advisory Department (CTA), Financial Institutions Group (FIG), Infrastructure (INR), and Manufacturing, Agribusiness and Services (MAS) – are responsible for delivering on IFC’s strategy via investment, advisory services, and working upstream to develop new markets and opportunities. In addition, the global business departments are complemented by the vice presidency units of Economics and Private Sector Development, Treasury and Syndications, Cross-cutting Solutions, and the IFC Asset Management Company. All these work together to implement programs that integrate cross-cutting themes, such as climate, gender, Upstream engagement, fragility, and sustainability.

The Global Industry and Thematic Communications unit delivers global thematic/sectoral communications and outreach by developing strategic communications outreach plans; producing, publishing and promoting industry insights and thematic reports; organizing and marketing global events; promoting IFC’s thought leadership; and coordinating across the World Bank Group communications network to showcase IFC’s impact. The team works closely with IFC’s Regional Communications unit on outreach related to country and regional level investments and sector trends, and with IFC’s Public Affairs & Risk team to communicate IFC’s development impact.

The Communications Officer will be part of the communications team working on Global Infrastructure outreach and communications needs.
