Job Description

The Biden for President Campaign is seeking an Associate Counsel to advise on campaign finance and other legal questions. This role will work closely with other members of the campaign’s legal team to provide legal guidance to a broad range of campaign staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice to campaign staff, including the digital, fundraising, and operations teams
  • Research and advise on various campaign finance issues, including but not limited to questions related to fundraising, advertising, reporting, and state party coordinated campaigns
  • Review campaign advertisements and other communications
  • Research and advise on election administration and voting rights issues
  • Review and negotiate contracts, MOUs, and other legal documents
  • Assist with drafting and implementing internal policies, conducting trainings, etc.
  • Other legal duties as assigned

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in legal practice with either government, a nonprofit, a law firm, or an in-house legal department
  • Experience advising on campaign finance issues
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask while meeting tight deadlines
  • Excellent research, writing and communications skills, including when communicating to a non-legal audience
  • Experience working in Democratic politics and/or on political campaigns
