Summary: Organizers will be responsible for recruiting and managing volunteer relationships, executing voter contact, and representing the campaign in their assigned communities. Montana is the most important battleground state in 2024, with highly competitive elections at all levels, including reelecting Senator Jon Tester. Organizers will report to an assigned Regional Organizing Director. This position is full-time in-person, based in Montana, and requires regular travel. Remote work options will not be available for this position. No experience necessary! All training is provided.


Required Skills, Abilities, and Experience:

● Strong interpersonal skills, and desire to organize for Montana Democrats up and down the ballot

● Valid driver’s license, reliable access to a personal vehicle, internet, and a cellphone

● Strong communication skills - must be able to speak with and persuade all kinds of voters

● Drive to hit and exceed ambitious metric goals, and ability to take feedback from managers

● Excellent time management skills, flexibility, and a willingness to problem-solve effectively

● Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and work long, irregular hours - including weekends


Duties and Responsibilities:

● Work to elect Montana Democrats up and down the ballot by knocking on doors, recruiting volunteers, attending community events, and registering voters in assigned communities

● Recruit, manage, and train volunteers to participate in direct voter contact; including but not limited to door-to-door canvassing, volunteer recruitment calls, phone banking, and relational organizing

● Implement strategies to meet daily and weekly organizing metrics, adhere to MDP’s established statewide data standards, and ensure accurate data collection for all voter-contact activity

● Support volunteers by providing regular 1:1 meetings, trainings, and local campaign meetings

● Build relationships with local activists, stakeholders, and organizations across your assigned area

● Develop volunteer leadership teams to prepare for a robust statewide Get Out the Vote effort

● Other responsibilities as assigned


Compensation: This temporary position is anticipated to end no later than November 2024 and is unionized with IBEW Local 206. Organizers receive employer-sponsored health, dental, and vision insurance, a monthly $100 tech stipend, and qualifying mileage reimbursement. As part of the MDP’s agreement with IBEW, Organizer salaries will increase as hours scale closer to Election Day. Those are:

April - July 2024: $4,176/month

August - September 2024: $4,896/month

October - November 2024: $5,040/month
