Job Description
First Shift seeks a Community Outreach and Engagement Manager to engage in outreach and education to D.C. workers in low-wage jobs; develop partnerships with local community organizations; develop online and print resources to educate First Shift’s client population; and increase public awareness of the availability of First Shift’s services. This is a supervisory position: the Community Outreach and Engagement Manager will supervise other First Shift staff members who are also engaged in community outreach, as well as oversee a Know Your Rights program that engages volunteer lawyers.
This position requires Spanish language skills. Eligible candidates must have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; at least 1-3 years of relevant work experience; supervisory experience; demonstrated willingness to take initiative; and empathy for First Shift’s working caregiver client population.
The salary range for this position is $70-75K/year, depending on experience. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, a retirement plan, and a generous paid leave allowance. First Shift’s normal operating hours are 9-5, M-F. Employees work on a hybrid remote basis and are afforded some flexibility to establish work hours that enable them to meet family commitments as needed. To apply, interested candidates should send a cover letter and resume via email, addressed to Laura Brown, Executive Director, at firstshift@firstshift.org. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis and the position will remain open until it is filled.
