ReadWorks is an edtech nonprofit in the United States that provides resources and tools based on the science of reading to help ensure EVERY child becomes a successful and joyful reader. Through our easily accessible platform, ReadWorks provides compelling reading content, curricular supports, guidance, and digital tools for FREE, while participating in research that informs the larger education community. In the 2022-2023 school year alone, ReadWorks was used by more than 820,000 educators and over 11.1 million students nationwide.


After more than a decade of developing our web platform and building our user community, our two key areas of focus are: (1) deepening impact by actively promoting teacher practices that help students achieve improved outcomes for students, and (2) supporting educational equity by partnering with under-resourced communities to understand how we can best support their needs and how to scale this support broadly.


About the Role

ReadWorks is seeking a full-time Development Manager to support the Director of Development and full development team in fundraising and revenue generation. This is a remote position.


Responsibilities

Working with the development team, the Development Manager will:

  • Co-plan and carry out (with eventual ownership of) annual giving campaigns for our user base of nearly 1 million educators and the broader public
  • Write and distribute emails to current and prospective donors, including the more than 700,000 educators currently opting into email updates
  • Create social media collateral and graphics for on-site pop-ups
  • Help create and launch a monthly giving program, managing communications and perks
  • Support the stewardship and cultivation of high net-worth donors, including helping to create yearly communications plans, writing individual emails and reports, completing prospect research, and monitoring giving timelines
  • Create and send tax acknowledgments to donors
  • Assist in writing and sending monthly newsletters
  • Assist with grant research, writing, and reporting 
  • Write, revise, and publish case studies about ReadWorks’ success stories, donor profiles, product showcases, and more
  • Assist with writing press releases 
  • Grow into leading the ReadWorks’ Young Professionals Council with fundraising, volunteer recruitment and activities, organizational updates, and more


Qualifications

  • Passion for ReadWorks’ mission and belief in our core values
  • 1+ year(s) of experience in fundraising, development, or relevant coursework
  • Organized with the ability to track, maintain, and meet deadlines 
  • Our team uses the following platforms: Trello, Canva, Foundation Directory Online, Google Workspace, Bloomerang (or similar CRMs), Slack, and/or social media management. While experience with these platforms is nice to have, we are happy to train candidates on any/all of these platforms.


Salary & Benefits: 

  • Salary range: $65,000 - $75,000 (depending on experience)

This is a full-time, fully remote position reporting to the Director of Development.
