The Boeing Communications team is looking for a Senior Communications Specialist to join their team in Arlington, VA. This position reports up through Business Development and Strategy Communications at Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS).

Position Responsibilities:

1. Enables Growth and Execution:

  • Partners with the Senior Director of Global Business Development and Strategy, and BDS divisional Capture Team Leads to create integrated communications strategies, plans and execut in support of international defense and space priority sales campaigns and keep it sold efforts

  • Develops new and creative ways to bring Boeing’s products and services offerings to life, including media events, social and digital media, emerging and leverage channels that best reach Boeing’s target audiences and key decision makers

  • Coordinates with internal and external stakeholders on an overarching customer storytelling approach, event and milestone-driven public relations activities, and air and trade shows

  • Measures and analyzes metrics to ensure effectiveness of communications plans and tactics


2. Drives Integration:

  • Serves as primary, day-to-day integrator between Global Business Development and Strategy, and Communications functions through a direct partnership with leadership teams; captures team leads globally

  • Works on annual air and trade show communications assignments, plans and executes for specific regions through close alignment with Customer Engagement team

  • Ensures corporate Content Management Systems partners are leveraged early and often as catalysts for campaign communications success; strives to ensure partners have maximum connectivity to the business

  • Leads collaboration with Global Communications colleagues in development and execution of sales campaign communications plans

  • Leads integration with Boeing Global Services-Government Services; communications colleagues in leveraging holistic platforms/services value proposition in support of key sales and market positioning efforts

  • Manages global, BDS-retained Public Relations (PR) agencies for an assigned region

3. Elevates Effectiveness:

  • Develops, owns and iterates a robust integrated market and campaign communications planning process, leverages the full range of paid, earned and owned tactics to tell BDS’ unmatched differentiation story around the world

  • Works hand-in-hand with colleagues across the Communications function to develop and tailor plans according to unique business and campaign situations and priorities

  • Works with the Content Management System teams and Global Communications colleagues to develop value-added processes, tools, and battle rhythms that enable business growth and execution

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. This role will be primarily based in Arlington, VA but will requires some U.S. and international travel.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree or higher

  • External and marketing communications experience

  • Experience writing and editing with demonstrated experience effectively utilizing a wide variety of communications tactics

  • Experience creating and implementing strategic communications plans

  • Experience working with the media, external influencers and social and digital channels

  • Experience leading, influencing and providing strategic counsel to business partners, colleagues and leaders

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in aerospace and defense


Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 10 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+8 years' related work experience, 14 years' related work experience, etc.).

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $108,800 – $147,200
