Position Title: Policy Associate or Senior Policy Associate
Location: Remote Position, Washington, D.C. Based
Hours per week (average): 40
Overtime Status: Exempt
Position Summary
The U.S. Impact Investing Alliance (“the Alliance”) is seeking a talented and driven individual with experience in Federal public policy and a passion for impact investing to join its Washington, D.C.-based team.
The Alliance is a field building organization committed to raising awareness of impact investing in the United States, fostering deployment of impact capital and working with stakeholders to help build the impact investing ecosystem. The Policy Associate or Senior Policy Associate will work under the direction of the Director, Policy & Special Projects, and will support the organization by participating in various general and project-specific tasks. This person must exercise effective time management and balance multiple priorities.
This position will require some travel for in-person activities, in accordance with public health policies.
Responsibilities and Tasks
- Advocacy
- Participate in development of Alliance policy strategy in alignment with mission, vision and theory of change.
- Lead or support development of Alliance policy materials, including public comment letters, statements, op-eds and talking points.
- Support and attend meetings with legislative and agency staff as well as other key stakeholders. Support to include event and meeting logistics, background research and follow up. When appropriate, lead said meetings.
- Track Alliance engagement with key policymakers (e.g., Congressional offices or agency staff) and ensure regular communication.
- Provide administrative and program support for the Coalition on Inclusive Economic Growth, such as preparing coalition communications, agendas and notes.
- Policy Tracking and Research
- Monitor official sources and news outlets for relevant public policy developments, including regulations, legislative actions, hearings, policymaker statements and relevant litigation.
- Analyze internal and external data, secondary research and other information sources to inform the policy positions and communications of the Alliance.
- Support the Alliance’s program team in preparation of policy related materials and presentations for the Presidents’ Council on Impact Investing, Advisory Board and other stakeholders.
- Based on experience and with guidance from supervisor, develop policy area expertise on one or more topics; serve as resident content expert on such topics.

- Inform Alliance subgranting strategy relevant to public policy, and support subgrantee or consultant management.
- Participate in Alliance team meetings and staff retreats and contribute to overall team culture and performance.
- Provide support for Alliance-hosted in person and virtual events.
- As needed, attend relevant webinars, meetings and conferences to gather information and knowledge, generating meeting notes when requested.
- As needed and appropriate, provide additional support for other Alliance programming or administrative functions.
- All employees of NVF are required to complete biweekly timesheets
Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Ability
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 3-6 years’ experience in Federal public policy; Capitol Hill, Federal Agency or Trade Association/Lobbying experience a plus
- Interest in and support for impact investing
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Experience conducting independent research and presenting analytical findings
- Comfortable asking questions when not clear on directions, and courage to suggest change where possible
- Experience using Google Workspace, Microsoft Office and Zoom
Valued and Non-Essential Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Ability
- Graduate Degree (e.g., Master’s in Policy, Public Administration, etc.)
- Professional or academic experience related to impact investing public policy, such as exposure to relevant aspects of the Community Reinvestment Act, tax credit policy (LIHTC, NMTC, OZs, etc.), federal program implementation (IRA, CHIPS/SCIENCE, etc.), or ESG policy (at the SEC, DOL, etc.)
- Experience in policy communications (e.g., drafting press releases, statements, talking points and op-eds)
- Experience in financial services – such as community development or asset/wealth management
- Direct experience in stakeholder management

Compensation and Benefits
Salary range: $80,000 to $105,000, commensurate with experience
Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package that includes 100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance for employees (and their families). Employees are able to enroll in 401k retirement plan and are eligible for a 3% automatic contribution and up to a 3% employer match on 401k contributions. Employees are also eligible for pre-tax transportation benefits. Employees will receive 80 hours of vacation time, 80 hours of health leave, up to 2 days of casual leave, and 20 hours of volunteer leave annually. Employees will also receive 13 paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are eligible for 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave after 90 days of employment.
