The Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS), a Washington, DC based trade association represents the nation’s nearly one million workers in the plastics industry. PLASTICS seeks a Senior Manager of Trade Show Marketing to manage PLASTICS’ signature global triennial business to business (B2B) trade show – NPE: The Plastics Show and various industry trade shows through the implementation of multichannel marketing campaigns. This position manages the day-to-day marketing operations and employs marketing best practices to position NPE as the premier platform in the plastics industry for education, networking, and innovation, ensuring continued growth in attendance, exhibitors, and sponsorship sales.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports the execution of integrated marketing campaigns for the organization’s global trade show, NPE: The Plastics Show. Contributes to all phases of promotional tactics including messaging, design, production, and distributions such as – email, web, print collateral, organic and paid social media, digital and print advertising, digital media (e.g., SEO, SEM, display and native, retargeting, geotargeting, geofencing), and event mobile applications.
  • Reviews and maintains event calendars and marketing schedules to ensure key deadlines are met.
  • Works closely with the product team and external marketing agency/vendor to build value-driven messaging to support marketing campaigns and website content.
  • Manages, reviews, and contributes to website edits on NPE.org ensuring accurate and timely content is in place pre- and post- show and during the event.
  • Monitors and manages the NPE: The Plastics Show social media channels (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram).
  • Manages the NPE: The Plastics Show social media influencer campaign to maximize event visibility and attendee registrations.
  • Assists with ordering promotional materials (e.g., brochures and giveaways) for industry trade shows and NPE: The Plastics Show.
  • Collaborates with the external graphic design team to manage designed assets in support of NPE: The Plastics Show.
  • Meets with other internal PLASTICS groups and functions as needed to develop marketing content.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in marketing B2B trade shows, conferences and live, virtual, and hybrid formats; trade association or marketing/PR agency experience preferred.
  • Experience managing email marketing campaigns (e.g., HubSpot and Mailchimp), social media platforms, (e.g., Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram), digital media channels (programmatic and paid social), and web.
  • Experience using Google Analytics to enhance campaign performance.
  • Experience writing including editing and proofreading marketing email and social media copy.
  • Experience with event management platforms or mobile applications (e.g., Bizzabo, MapYourShow, Eventbase) preferred.
  • Experience with event marketing tools (e.g., InGo or Feathr) preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Written and oral communications skills with diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge of standard concepts, best practices, and marketing procedures.
  • Self-motivated with attention to detail, problem-solving, organizational, emotional intelligence, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and work on various projects simultaneously, adjust to changing priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver results.
  • Ability to work well autonomously and collectively to build consensus.
  • Ability to provide customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • An earnest work ethic and dedication to collective success of the organization in service of our membership.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to travel.
