Marketing & Sales Manager

We are seeking an experienced marketing and sales professional for a hands-on role leading membership and revenue growth for the East Bay Rental Housing Association (EBRHA).  If you are a people-oriented and persuasive marketing/sales professional who enjoys working as part of a team and getting things done at a fast pace, this is the job for you.

EBRHA is a membership organization serving property owners, property managers, and industry-related vendors in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. Reporting to the Association Executive, this position will develop and implement a marketing plan retain our base of 1,300 members, reenroll lapsed members, and build membership in untapped communities of the East Bay. 

Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing our markets and gathering data on our current and potential members, and how best to reach them (message, medium, frequency, etc.).
  • Creating and implementing a marketing plan based on EBRHA’s strategic plan and utilizing best practices from our national organization, the National Apartment Association, and other chapters of the NAA. 
  • Personally reaching out to lapsed members and prospective members to enroll them in EBRHA.
  • Participating in the development of marketing materials, ad copy, and related campaigns in collaboration with the Communications & Events Specialist.
  • Contributing to content creation for EBRHA’s magazine and other communications.
  • Creating and maintaining a sales dashboard and metrics, in partnership with the Association Executive.
  • Serving as one of our liaisons to the NAA.

EBRHA is an 80-year-old membership organization with a staff of five full-time and two part-time employees. There are no other staff in the marketing/sales function, so the ideal candidate will enjoy doing all aspects of the marketing and sales functions.  

This is a full-time position in downtown Oakland near Lake Merritt. EBHRA offers medical/dental benefits, vacation and sick pay.  The pay rate for this position is $60,000-$65,000, depending on qualifications.  

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of related experience demonstrating:

  • Excellent communication skills (speaking, listening, and writing), over the phone, in person, and online.
  • Experience developing marketing plans and conducting market research. 
  • Success leading sales presentations to individuals and groups.
  • Proven track record in business development and relationship building.
  • Experience with Constant Contact, drip marketing campaigns, content marketing, and social media marketing is preferred. 
  • Strong skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Initiative and sense of personal responsibility for getting things done.
  • Team player: someone who communicates openly, keeps others informed, asks questions, and is happy to help others as needed.  
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build strong relationships and work effectively with board members and a wide range of people.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related area is preferred.
