Job Title: Political Director

Reports to: Executive Director

Status: Full-Time

Location: Arlington, VA

Overview:

Manage the political operations of American Principles Project and its affiliated organizations, APP Foundation and APP PAC. The political director is primarily responsible for managing voter contact efforts, coalition building, coordination with other outside advocacy organizations and super pacs, and finding opportunities to leverage family issues in key elections. Job responsibilities include day to day management of voter contact efforts (text messaging, digital ads, etc), monitoring public polling on key family issues, keeping track of relevant news and policy developments pertaining to families, and maximizing APP's political engagement through key electoral opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement and help develop APP's political strategies and plans 
• Manage effectiveness of political efforts and messages 
• Manage relations with political vendors and coalition partners 
• Manage digital advertising, texting, tele-townhalls, and other voter contact efforts 
• Manage and develop the copywriting and design content for ads and voter contacts 
• Manage APP's political engagements and electoral opportunities 
• Prepare regular reports on APP's political engagement 
• Ensure branding and voice of all political materials match that of APP 
• Create and adjust political strategies based on results 
• Work with development team to create proposals and campaign plans for donors 
• Coordinate efforts with government affairs, development, and communications teams 

Experience/Education/Qualification: 

• High School Diploma or equivalent Associate's Degree or higher 
• 1-3 year prior administrative experience Excellent written and oral communications 
• Strong interpersonal relationship building skills 
• Professionalism and diplomacy 
• The ability to work as a member of a team and follow instructions and procedures Effective time management skills; detail oriented and well organized 
• Proficient in Microsoft applications 
• Experience with email programs, design, and marketing 
• Ability to learn new skills in short order
