Deputy Chief of Staff
New York State Assembly – Central Queens (Democratic Office)
The Office of a New York State Assemblymember representing Central Queens is seeking a full-time Deputy Chief of Staff. This is a high-responsibility role for someone ready to help shape and execute the office’s legislative, district, and communications priorities.
Responsibilities include:
- Report directly to the Chief of Staff on key assignments including, but not limited to: priority legislation, local initiatives, constituent casework trends, event planning, and press strategy.
- At the discretion of the Chief of Staff, manage and assign constituent casework to other staff and interns. Maintain oversight of follow-up and resolution while also handling a personal constituent caseload.
- Prepare briefing memos, organize district-wide email blasts, and coordinate mass response templates as needed.
- Keep the Chief of Staff and Assemblymember apprised of all ongoing priority items and help execute short- and long-term office strategy.
- Attend monthly Community Board meetings, civic association meetings, and local events — including some evenings and weekends — to represent the Assemblymember and the office.
- Help maintain a positive, collaborative relationship with staff in both the District and Albany offices.
- Schedule and attend meetings with legislative partners, advocates, government agencies, and community-based organizations.
- Assist in managing office-wide communications, inter-agency coordination, and administrative priorities.
Salary: $70,000–$85,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
This is a full-time, hybrid (min. 3 days per week in office) position based in Queens.
