Summary
Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Public Affairs in Washington, D.C.
Duties
The Public Affairs Specialist is responsible for preparing, coordinating, editing, and posting content regarding Customs and Border Protection's (CBP's) programs, objectives, and mission on CBP's social media accounts.
This position starts at a salary of $55,924.00 (GS-07, Step 1) to $72,703.00 (GS-07, Step 10) with promotion potential to $88,926 (GS-9 Step 10).

Typical work responsibilities include:
Creating social media content via social media management tools.
Working as part of a team to implement social media campaigns, including engagement tactics and brand awareness for X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, Threads, etc.
Analyzing public social media discussion about CBP and CBP-relevant topics to better understand public perception of the agency and improve public messaging.
Evaluating web and social media analytics to help determine the effectiveness of outreach programs and to make recommendations for changes in approach.
