Job Description

The Deputy Director of Voter Registration plays a pivotal role in the Florida Democratic Party's efforts to engage and mobilize voters across the state. This position is responsible for overseeing and implementing voter registration strategies, initiatives, and programs aimed at increasing Democratic voter registrations across the state.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the Director of Voter Registration and other stakeholders to develop comprehensive voter registration strategies aligned with the party's goals and objectives. This includes setting ambitious but achievable targets for voter registration efforts.
  • Program Implementation: Lead the execution of voter registration initiatives, including organizing registration drives, events, and campaigns in targeted communities across Florida. Develop innovative approaches to reach underrepresented demographics and ensure inclusivity in voter registration efforts.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Utilize data analytics tools to track and analyze voter registration metrics, including registration rates, demographics, and geographic trends. Work closely with the Data Team to manage voter registration activity across the state using VAN. Develop weekly reports to track field activity throughout the state and provide insights for strategic decision-making.
  • Volunteer Recruitment and Management: Recruit, train, and manage a team of volunteers dedicated to voter registration activities. Provide guidance, support, and resources to volunteers to maximize their effectiveness in registering voters.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Utilize data analytics tools to track and analyze voter registration metrics, including registration rates, demographics, and geographic trends. Generate regular reports to evaluate the effectiveness of voter registration efforts and identify areas for improvement.
  • Community Outreach and Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, advocacy groups, and stakeholders to promote voter registration initiatives and foster partnerships. Represent the Florida Democratic Party at events, meetings, and conferences related to voter registration and civic engagement.
  • Compliance and Training: Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines governing voter registration activities in Florida. Develop and conduct training sessions for staff and volunteers on voter registration procedures, best practices, and legal requirements.
  • Communication and Messaging: Work closely with the communications team to develop messaging and materials that effectively communicate the importance of voter registration and Democratic values to diverse audiences. Utilize various communication channels, including social media, email, and traditional media, to amplify voter registration efforts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in political science, public administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Previous experience in voter registration, community organizing, political campaigns, or related fields.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and data management using voter database systems (VAN), organizing and direct voter contact apps (MiniVAN, Reach, peer-to-peer texting programs, Open Virtual Phone Bank, auto-dialers), and Google Suite tools.
  • Strong understanding of voter registration laws, regulations, and procedures in Florida.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Logistics
The position is based in Florida, with a preference for Miami or Orlando. Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable mode of transportation and the ability to travel extensively throughout the state for more than a day at a time.
