The Office of U.S. Senator Mazie K. Hirono seeks a Staff Assistant for our Honolulu, Hawaii office. Please note that relocation expenses are not covered by the Senate.

Being the first contact between constituents and the Senator's office, candidate should be patient, resourceful and highly organized. The ideal candidate will possess effective oral communication and writing skills and an ability to work with minimum supervision, handling multiple tasks and assignments successfully. 

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: answering telephones, maintaining office voicemail, greeting visitors, processing correspondence to appropriate staff, maintaining databases and other administrative duties as assigned.

Professionalism, confidentiality, ability to work independently as part of the office team are prerequisites for a successful candidate, along with a familiarity and appreciation for Hawaii’s multi-ethnic society and the unique qualities of each island community. This position is based in Honolulu, not Washington, D.C.
