We are seeking a Program Coordinator to coordinate the day-to-day operations of Osborne’s Corrections Health Initiative (CHI) program within Sing Sing, Edgecombe, and Queensboro Correctional Facilities, as well as the Bronx. The CHI program provides education on HIV/HCV, STIs, sexual health, reentry, and overall wellness. Our team also conducts assessments and creates transitional plans for individuals with HIV/HCV who are soon-to-be-released, and provides case management for people who are released to the Bronx. The Program Coordinator will supervise 2 Linkage Specialists, and directly provide trainings on HIV/HCV, STIs, sexual health, reentry, and overall wellness to Peer Trainees inside prisons.
Salary: $60,000 - $65,000 annually
Essential Duties:
- Collaborate with the Vice President of Prison Services to establish contract goals, objectives and work plans
- Implement work activities to meet goals; monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of results
- Ensure contract deliverables are met
- Supervise 2 staff who offer Linkage and Navigation Services (reentry case management) and support services such as ARTAS to HIV/HCV positive people who are due to be released from prison or released and living in the Bronx
- Oversee, promote, conduct, and coordinate health education groups
- Conduct and supervise outreach and peer trainings in prisons and keep records of training activities
- In collaboration with the Data Analyst, ensure that record keeping and reports are accurate and timely
- Actively engage with the funder and referral sources to maintain positive working relationships
- Ensure a welcoming environment for all participants
- Coordinate with correctional health staff regularly to recruit participants and obtain medical documentation
- Keep abreast of the latest information about HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis and other co-infections that may occur with HIV disease
- Make connections to and be familiar with various services available in the community and speak knowledgeably about such issues with individuals and groups
- Adhere to established DOCCS and Osborne guidelines for operating prison and community reentry programs
- This position will be required to be on-site of NYS prisons and Osborne offices as needed.
- Supervise and assist in career development with direct report(s) by providing supervisions and researching available opportunities for training and development
- Delegate work assignments and collaborate with staff who assist in carrying out assigned activities
- Provide guidance and feedback to enhance staff abilities.
- Provides direct services as needed, including visits to prison sites several times a week
- Ensure all educational materials used are approved by the funder, the AIDS Institute
- Oversee the dissemination of educational materials that support CHI and make sure that all information about the organization is being provided clearly and accurately to the participants
- Provide oversight to special projects within CHI as assigned
- Attend required training(s)
- In-person attendance is required to collaborate with co-workers
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Social Work or a related field and Two years of experience supporting a non-profit organization in a supervisory capacity; In lieu of a degree, High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 2 years of experience supporting a non-profit agency and at least 2 years of proven supervisory experience
- Knowledge of the criminal justice environment
Key Competencies:
- Ability to travel locally and to assigned New York State prison facilities
- Ability to obtain clearance to work in New York State prisons
- Competence within the criminal justice environment and social service processes
- Ability to analyze and integrate information independently
- Exceptional database management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite
- Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines, pay strong attention to detail, and time management skills
- Excellent assessment, treatment planning and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions
- Ability to take the initiative and drive for results
- Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization and build strong relationships
