The position will be responsible for 47 cities/towns in the general geographic territory including Alba, Annona, Arthur City, Avery, Bagwell, Blossom, Bogata, Brashear, Brookston, Caddo Mills, Campbell, Celeste, Clarksville, Commerce, Como, Cooper, Cumby, Deport, Detroit, Emory, Enloe, Fairlie, Farmersville, Fulbright, Greenville, Hagensport, Honey Grove, Johntown, Ladonia, Lone Oak, Paris, Pecan Gap, Petty, Pickton, Point, Powderly, Quinlan, Quitman, Reno (Lamar County), Roxton, Saltillo, Sulphur Springs, Sun Valley, Toco, Weaver, Wolfe City and Yantis. The candidate is required to live in the assigned area.
The incumbent must have the flexibility to work a non-standard schedule (evenings and weekends) in order to attend meetings and community events and be on call and available for emergency response within their assigned area.

Primary Duties

1.Develops positive working relationships with municipal and state elected officials and staff, business and community leaders and other key community stakeholders in order to shape the external environment by promoting the division's public image, products and services.

2.Administers the division's community relations program. Serves as the local point of contact for charitable and civic contributions. Holds community board positions and participates in economic development groups and associations as needed to further the company's objectives in that community.

3.Leads the franchise renewal process to ensure that the division maintains an effective operational relationship with communities and is perceived as a respected corporate citizen by franchising authority.

4.Provides operational support such as responding to emergency situations, town outages, right of way issues, and system integrity issues.

5.Delivers regulatory and governmental support as necessary in the division for regulatory filings, legislative support or other governmental activity.

6.Serves as a point of contact and coordinates response for escalated customer service issues to key community, regulatory or elected stakeholders.

7.Counsels executive(s) on public policy/public affairs. Develops and recommends a public relations work plan for the assigned territory and serves as company ombudsman.

8.Keeps abreast of events and issues relevant to the divisions service area through monitoring various media communications, newspapers, etc.

9.Develops and monitors functional and contributions budget to ensure efficient utilization of resources.

10.Assists corporate communications in developing, implementing and monitoring communication strategies for corporate initiatives, media relations and messaging initiatives that impact the division, its employees or customers.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Educational/Experience Level:

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Business Administration, Marketing or a closely related field and four years of related experience in the natural gas or related industry; or equivalent.

Communication Skills:

Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers in order to obtain and/or provide explanations and/or modifications on technical or other complex concepts to individuals with little or no background in the area under discussion.

Numeric Skills:

Requires the ability to perform analyses involving ratios, percentages and simple statistical methods.

Computer Skills:

Requires basic computer skills for data entry, reference and/or retrieval tasks.

Physical Demands:

Ability to lift 40 pounds from the ground. (Ex: lifting costumes and promotional items).

Ability to lift 25 pounds from 56 inches to 72 inches. (Ex: lifting and shelving promotional materials).

Ability to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and/or crouch.

Work Conditions:

Primary job responsibilities require work outside the office. Travel required.

Requires occasionally performing activities including, but not limited to, driving, bending, stooping, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning and/or lifting.
