A seasonal assistant in the New York Jets Communications Department plays a versatile and crucial role in the day-to-day operations of the department. Our goal is to provide you with real-life work experience and a hands-on knowledge of corporate and football communications in the number one media market in the country. We are looking for qualified and dedicated individuals with a proven ability to learn, adapt and seamlessly transition between all elements of the position, while contributing original ideas to merge with tested department practices.

Responsibilities:
  • Compile, distribute and catalog Daily Clips, Broadcast Clips and Social Clips and monitor/record social media, TV, and the internet for team-related news.
  • Record and transcribe press conferences and player availabilities.
  • Draft press releases using both traditional and untraditional methods.
  • Help plan and prepare media pitches, both for football and corporate endeavors.
  • Fill season-long and individual game credential requests, in addition to practice and various other events.
  • Organize and facilitate player interviews.
  • Develop interview preparation documents for players, coaches, and executives.
  • Miscellaneous statistical and research projects.
  • Contribute to media guide and weekly game release.
  • Create and Update player bios as needed.
  • Take lead on the creation of the team’s weekly flip card.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the team’s Communication Center media website.
  • Staff and assist planning of corporate communication events.
  • Aid with the department social media accounts, including creating graphics to highlight players and organizational initiatives.
  • Daily interaction with media members.
  • Work with other departments on various projects and assignments.
  • Gameday responsibilities when team is at home and on the road.

Requirements:
  • College graduate with a concentration in Communications, Public Relations, or related background.
  • Strong writing skills: proven experience in use of AP style preferred.
  • Experience with Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop and Canva a plus.
  • Experience with football statistics and statistic websites, specifically TruMedia, Stats Pass and Pro Football Focus, a plus.
  • Must be able to work at least 40 hours per week including nights and weekends.
  • Position is based in Florham Park, NJ. Frequent travel is required to MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. Candidate is required to provide own transportation to and from locations.
  • Must be available to work all Jets games.
  • Candidate should be prepared for both on-site and virtual work, with a heavy emphasis on-site.
