Job Description

The RIAA seeks a strategic, data-driven, and creative Digital Media Strategist, with excellent writing, social media, and organizational skills to drive and analyze message distribution across digital media channels in support of RIAA’s mission.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with the RIAA’s SVP of Creative & Brand Strategy and Communications staff members to implement short-term and long-term digital campaigns and native content that reflect strategic initiatives across all areas of online including social media and internal websites.
  • Collaborate on and help develop digital advocacy campaigns including drafting social media copy, fact checks, online replies/engagement, and monitoring traffic and any replies/engagement on RIAA’s various social channels.
  • Assist in brainstorming, planning and creation of digital storytelling strategies.
  • Coordinate with member company digital teams to support and amplify their brand message(s) and RIAA initiatives.
  • Develop and analyze reports for internal and external teams, including establishing metrics for social media channels, gleaning performance insights and delivering recommendations for content optimization and placement regularly to meet communications goals.
  • Assist in budgeting and executing paid online advertising campaigns to increase brand awareness, drive engagement, followers, and growth by identifying trends, developing new digital engagement models, and implementing innovative campaigns.
  • Help develop new and ongoing relationships with online partners and affiliates, including social platforms and new and existing startups.
  • Assist in developing and deploying a content calendar to draft, publish and promote content on social media.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in digital marketing and provide counsel on social media best practices internally as appropriate.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year university and a minimum of 2 years related digital media marketing experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of overall digital trends and resources.
  • Experience with Social Listening.
  • Skill in utilizing data to analyze the characteristics and needs of target audiences and determining the most effective communication techniques to use in reaching the general public and other audiences.
  • Experience with Google Analytics or other analytics platforms.
  • Knowledge and skill working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to produce high-quality content under tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Assist when needed with updating RIAA websites and other digital properties with press releases, news articles, photos/videos, and other relevant and timely content.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including experience building collaborative work relationships. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships and consensus with a variety of stakeholders both inside and outside the organization.
  • Knowledge of standard office programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook or the equivalent Mac office programs.
  • Helpful to have music industry, politics, advocacy or copyright-related experience.
