Rep. Shontel M. Brown seeks an experienced, creative, highly motivated and proactive Communications Director to lead her media and associated strategy efforts. This is not an entry-level position and may be primarily located in the Cleveland, Ohio area.

Strong candidates will have 5+ years communications experience, not including internships, as well as significant Capitol Hill, related, or campaign experience. They will also have existing relationships with national and/or local Ohio media, be familiar with House operations, and have a strong collaborative approach to cross functional teaming. Ideal candidates will have excellent written and oral communication skills and familiarity with multiple media forms, e.g., print, radio, television, cable, and social/digital media platforms. Successful candidates must be able to respond to media and engage in short- and long-term planning through a strategic lens.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating all communication activities, including strategic planning and implementation and external communications, e.g., newsletters, town halls, etc.. That person will, among other things, work proactively with all segments of the team to enhance the development of policy and outreach initiatives through communication strategies; build and maintain strong relationships with local and national media personnel; manage and supervise other members of the communications team; support the Member's official communications responsibilities with caucuses, etc.; and hone the Member's voice.
