Job Title: Deputy Press Secretary

Reports to: Senate Communication Advisor

Salary: $50,000 - $60,000/annually, Plus see below for details on the DPW generous benefits package

The Opportunity: As the Deputy Press Secretary, you’ll work with the Senate Communications Advisor and other members of the team to define and hold the Republican U.S. Senate candidate accountable, while uplifting the Democratic Senate nominee once the primary concludes. You will be responsible for drafting internal and external communications, organizing and tracking internal planning documents, assisting in organizing press events, and working with surrogates and stakeholders to generate earned media coverage. Your work will lay the foundation for the election of a Democrat into the U.S. Senate in 2022.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and track breaking news and noteworthy developments in the U.S. Senate race.
  • Build relationships with Wisconsin stakeholders as directed.
  • Regularly draft engaging & useful press materials, including press releases, fact sheets, guest columns, and other items as needed.
  • Maintain and update internal tracking documents.
  • Help organize and execute regular press events to generate earned media.
  • Book surrogates on local media.

  • Effective Team Player - Ability to collaborate with colleagues to produce quality communications materials.


Qualifications (Preferred):

  • Press Event Planning - Demonstrated skills in planning, executing and creating successful and engaging press events to generate earned media coverage; prior experience pitching reporters and planning press events.
  • Advanced Time Management - Ability to prioritize and produce written materials on a tight deadline.
  • Wisconsin Press Ties - Understanding the local and statewide Wisconsin press.
