Summary of Position:
A key member of the Development team, the Donor Relations Manager supports a wide variety of cultivation and stewardship activities across Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston and in close collaboration with leadership, the Donor Relations team, frontline fundraisers, and Club staff. They are responsible for writing and producing development communications materials, managing and implementing strategies for the stewardship and recognition of BGCB donors and executing special projects. Reporting to the Director of Donor Relations, the Donor Relations Manager is a team player who can work independently within a fast-paced work environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages opportunities and executes plans for donor recognition and stewardship to support donor retention and increased engagement. Works closely with Director of Donor Relations and leadership to develop ongoing, strategic stewardship plans for Individual and Institutional donors at all giving levels.
- Researches and writes individually tailored reports to six and seven figure donors on the impact of their gifts to funds and/or programs, including capital, endowment, and restricted funds. Works closely with front-line fundraisers to develop specific communications strategies.
- Works with fundraisers and Marketing team to write and produce materials designed to engage, educate, and steward current and potential donors including BGCB’s annual report, website, newsletter, and electronic media content.
- Supports Director of Donor Relations on all recognition activities including planning and production of donor recognition plaques and honorific signage across all BGCB facilities, and coordinates installation and unveiling. Creates and maintains a detailed inventory of agency-wide named spaces, funds, and positions. Produces and maintains an accurate working list of available naming opportunities. Captures naming information in donor database.
- Manages donor recognition lists for BGCB’s annual report, coordinating review and sign off from each business unit within the Development and Marketing departments. Works closely with Marketing team and external designer on production timelines and with Development Operations on data integrity.
- Writes and produces materials supporting the case for giving, as well as updates, fact sheets, collateral materials, and content for electronic media as appropriate. Proofreads and edits content generated across Development team, including proposals, reports, event collateral, and correspondence.
- Writes special, individualized acknowledgment letters for major donors as needed. Writes acknowledgment letter templates for key constituencies.
- Tracks stewardship activity for donors and prospects and captures relevant information in donor database.
- Manages special projects, honorary gifts, and tributes as needed.
- Has a deep understanding of brand standards and style guidelines, as well as Naming and Gift Acceptance Policies.
- Other related duties as specified by the Senior Director of Planned Giving and Donor Relations and Chief Development Officer.

Position Requirements (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Work Demands)
- Bachelor’s Degree with 3+ years of related experience.
- Interest and commitment to BGCB mission.
- Excellent writing, editing, communications, and project management skills.
- Superior organizational skills with great attention to detail, follow through and tracking.
- High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations; ability to effectively interact with or present information and respond to questions from a wide variety of audiences; team oriented with the ability and comfort to work easily and collaboratively with senior management, volunteer leadership, colleagues, and all Club constituencies.
- Ability to work accurately and efficiently and be adaptable to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team, take initiative, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to manage several projects simultaneously is a must.
- MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) competency required; proficiency in Raiser’s Edge and desktop publishing software experience (InDesign, Adobe) preferred.
- Flexibility and sense of humor.
- Some early mornings, evenings and weekends required.
