Summary

This position is located in the Executive Office of the President (EOP), Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR), Office of Economic Affairs. The incumbent has primary responsibility for providing applied economic analytical support required for the successful operation of the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative.


Duties

As the Assistant United States Trade Representative for Economic Affairs, some of your typical work assignments will include:


Provide economic analytical support including related data analysis and statistical work to the U.S. Trade Representative, staff of other USTR offices, other government agencies, Congressional staff and the public.

Develop methodologies and approach for research, builds relevant empirical models, and renders expert advice to senior USTR officials based on subsequent analysis. Plan, develop, and coordinate bilateral economic, trade, investment, and commercial policies and programs for assigned countries.

Prepare economic assessments of foreign and U.S. policies, measures and practices related to trade to determine their impact on U.S. interests.

Conduct and manage the formulation and implementation of a program of rigorous quantitative economic research and analysis of U.S. trade, investment, commercial, and economic policies and relations with assigned countries within short time frames.
