Job Description


We are seeking an experienced, senior-level professional who will build out the digital capacities of the Ohio Organizing


Collaborative and its organizing projects (All In For Ohio, Ohio Student Association, AMOS Project, Building Freedom


Ohio, and The CEO Project). The digital director will spearhead the OOC’s digital strategy, initiate the development of our email program, systematize and integrate consistent communications out to OOC members via peer-to-peer texting, and manage our family of online properties. They will work with the Communications Director to tell a compelling story about the OOC and our grassroots leadership.


The digital director will also be responsible for training and developing volunteer and staff team members on digital best


practices, as well as ensuring that there is a compelling database of stories and storytellers for digital content. They will


advise on and implement organic digital strategies with each of the OOC’s organizing projects (including leveraging


grassroots influencers and experimenting with online-to-offline organizing) and will serve a strategic role in campaigns.


The Digital Director will work with the OOC’s digital vendor on building out a new c4 website, updating the OOC c3


brand, and ensuring there are data/analytics functionalities embedded within the OOC websites (including reporting back on relevant reporting metrics). They will also build out a compelling digital strategy that lifts up impactful voices from the OOC grassroots membership through paid and organic content.


Job Responsibilities


● Lead digital strategy and content creation/distribution for OOC and our membership projects


● Move big narratives in the digital arena and integrate digital strategies with traditional organizing


● Develop and execute digital strategies for our issue campaigns and initiatives, including paid and organic media.


● Develop and execute a regular email program through Action Network (including executing email segmentation for each


OOC membership project)


● Develop a comprehensive social media content calendar for each OOC membership project that integrates peer-to-peer


SMS


● Develop budgets/strategies for and executes paid media campaigns.


● Develop and evaluate data-informed digital strategies based on the OOC’s digital footprint and reach


● Coach and support a team of entry-level digital communications coordinators embedded in OOC membership projects to


execute digital strategies


● Work with OOC’s digital vendor to execute a compelling paid online program that drives voter registration and VBM


applications as well as candidate education.


● Refine and standardize the look and feel of OOC and our digital properties


● Explore the development of new digital strategies to uplift OOC grassroots membership (i.e., leveraging TikTok / IG


Reels / YouTube; microinfluencers)


● Train OOC organizers and member leaders on digital and email tools, strategy and best practices for use in their own


campaigns


● Manage contractors to accomplish digital communications goals as needed

Position Details


The Digital Director is a full-time salaried position. A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience is required.

Some in-state and national travel is required. Some weekend and evening hours will be required. Work-related expenses are reimbursed according to policy. Columbus-based professionals are preferred.


Required Experience


● Minimum 5 years experience with a variety of communications disciplines, including digital media (organic + paid) and


messaging and content development


● Advanced proficiency in managing sophisticated email platform systems. Action Network experience preferred.


● Advanced proficiency with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tiktok and YouTube


● Knowledge of Facebook Business Manager and Google Analytics


● Website management proficiency (Squarespace experience preferred plus)


● Proficiency in Canva (or similar graphic design platform) and Hootsuite (or similar content management platform)


● Significant experience in running Facebook ads and/or digital advertising campaigns


● Some experience in coaching and mentoring employees


● Digital or communications experience in Ohio issue advocacy, politics or organizing preferred but not required


The ideal candidate will be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work under pressure while juggling


deadlines. They must be flexible, organized, creative, and detail-oriented, with the ability to set and meet their own


deadlines. They must be able to work with minimal supervision. They must also be a team player who can work


successfully with different personalities and people coming from diverse backgrounds.


An understanding of race, class, and gender identities and how these intersect is strongly preferred. Previous


advocacy/social justice/political experience also preferred, but not required.


Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000 commensurate with experience.
