Coordinator, Communications and Social Media

Position Background: USA Baseball is seeking a full-time Communications and Social Media Coordinator to assist in the development and implementation of USA Baseball’s communications and social media strategy in order to increase brand awareness and online presence, as well as improve marketing efforts for the organization. This position will report directly to and work closely with the Director of Social Media, the Assistant Director of Communications, and the Director of Communications.
The communications and social media coordinator will be responsible for managing a host of social media accounts across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Twitter/X. The position will also oversee day-to-day communications needs for USA Baseball’s events.

Position Reports To: Director, Social Media

Position Responsibilities:
  • Create and guide content to USA Baseball’s official and auxiliary social media accounts
  • Coordinate day-to-day external communications needs for USA Baseball’s events (National High School Invitational, National Team Championships, Futures, National Team Identification Series)
  • Create audience and insight-driven campaigns to expand brand reach and engagement, as well as to promote the organization’s teams, programs, events, and services
  • Actively monitor and evaluate campaign and content performance on all platforms, leveraging insights and trends, and providing data-backed recommendations to the Communications team
  • Lead exploration and expansion into new and emerging social media platforms and analytics
  • Assist the communications team with needs for USA Baseball’s development programs, including the National Team Development Program (NTDP) and Athlete Development Program (ADP), website maintenance, press releases, advisories, and more
  • Identify and engage with trending social media topics and movements to keep the organization at the forefront of the baseball landscape
  • Develop and pitch creative new ways to cover relevant storylines and build USA Baseball’s brand awareness online
  • Oversee seasonal interns to assist with the implementation of the USA Baseball social media strategy
  • Serve as the on-site social media creator for USA Baseball events at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina, and other domestic locations as assigned
  • Potential to serve as a press officer for one of USA Baseball’s national teams on a yearly basis
  • Collaborate with all departments to ensure all needs are met
  • Assist all departments as needed for the organization

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Relevant, practical experience in communications and social media marketing and creation on behalf for an organization or event
  • Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills, and must work well in a team setting
  • Ability to identify trends and create content tailored to an organization’s voice and messaging
  • Exceptional time management skills in order to multi-task and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven ability to execute multiple projects and campaigns while ensuring each one meets overarching brand goals and expectations
  • Proficiency in all social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube and Twitter/X
  • Strong understanding of baseball, including both the professional and amateur baseball landscapes
  • Ability to score a baseball game and/or experience with statistical software (StatCrew, GameChanger, etc.)
  • Experience collecting analytics and utilizing insights in content creation and strategy
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is a plus
  • Candidates must be willing and able to work flexible, demanding hours

Required Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year university or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is required.
