Overview

Exciting city mayoral campaign seeks creative and strategic Social Media Manager to join our citywide election team in San Francisco. This role is essential for amplifying our campaign's presence online and engaging with voters through compelling social media content. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating daily content and will often need to attend events with the candidate to capture dynamic content for all social media platforms. This position requires someone passionate about politics and adept at using social media to tell stories and mobilize supporters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Content Creation: Develop and execute a content calendar that includes daily posts across all major social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok). Content should be engaging, informative, and tailored to our diverse audience segments.
  • Event Coverage: Accompany the candidate to various campaign events and activities to capture real-time content, including photos, videos, and live updates, ensuring our online community is engaged and informed.
  • Audience Engagement: Monitor, manage, and grow our online presence by responding to comments, messages, and engaging with followers in a way that fosters community and encourages active participation in the campaign.
  • Analytics and Reporting: Regularly analyze and report on the performance of social media activities using platform analytics, identifying trends, and adjusting strategies to maximize reach and engagement.
  • Brand Management: Ensure all social media content is consistent with our campaign's brand, message, and goals. Work closely with the communications team to align online campaigns with overall messaging and strategy.
  • Crisis Management: Monitor social media for potential issues or negative responses and work with the communications team to respond quickly and appropriately to mitigate any adverse impacts on the campaign.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Political Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Social Media Manager or similar role, with a strong portfolio of creating engaging content across multiple platforms. Experience in political campaigns or advocacy organizations is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in social media analytics and reporting tools.
  • Ability to capture high-quality photos and videos for social media content.
  • Creative and strategic thinker with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to attend events and activities with the candidate outside of standard office hours.
  • Familiarity with the political and cultural landscape of San Francisco is preferred but not required.
