Pat Ryan for Congress is seeking an Organizing Director for the 2024 election cycle. In 2022, Rep. Pat Ryan (NY-18) was the only Democrat in New York to win a toss-up race. NY-18 will be a top race nationally, so we’re building the team we’ll need to win again in 2024. We expect that this position will start in Q4 of 2023, or potentially in early Q1 of 2024.


The Organizing Director will work directly with the Campaign Manager to draft and execute the campaign's field plan, manage volunteer engagement, and assist in political development throughout the district. They will serve on the senior staff team, advising on every aspect of the campaign.


Key Responsibilities


Drafting and executing our Field Plan: With support from the Campaign Manager, the Organizing Director is responsible for creating the campaign’s field plan and building the team to execute it throughout the three counties in the district


Managing Organizing Staff: The Organizing Director will lead the hiring process for RODs and organizers and manage the organizing team to execute the field plan


Building and maintaining political relationships: The Organizing Director will build and maintain strong relationships with local Democratic committees, activist groups, unions, and other key local leaders


Overseeing digital and peer-to-peer organizing: The campaign will also employ a robust virtual organizing program. The Organizing Director will manage the tools used in these efforts and the development and tracking of tactics


Overseeing volunteer recruitment and engagement. The Organizing Director will manage the conversion of supporters into active volunteers, and the ongoing engagement of a vibrant volunteer community


Tracking our success: The Organizing Director will be responsible for tracking key field metrics and reporting updates to the senior campaign team


Requirements


Ideal candidates will have:


At least two cycles of political experience, including at least one cycle of experience as a Organizing Director or equivalent position


Previous experience recruiting and managing teams of organizers, canvassers, or volunteers


Expertise in VAN, Google Sheets, and Google Docs, as well as experience with tools for digital and peer-to-peer organizing


Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills; a positive attitude; and passion for bold political action


Dedication to meticulously tracking metrics and progress toward goals


Passion for thinking outside the box and organizing communities


Drivers license and access to a car


This is a full-time position based in the Hudson Valley, with a competitive salary range of $6,000 - $6,500 a month, plus health benefits. Short-term supporter housing can be coordinated for applicants on an as-needed basis.
