Position: Director, Policy Communications

Location: Washington, DC/Work-From-Home Flexibility

Reports To: Senior Vice President, Communications

As the Director of Policy Communications, you will develop and implement a communications strategy and messaging that advances the tech industry’s policy and advocacy priorities. You will be responsible for handling the day-to-day interactions with media, crafting compelling messaging that ensures media coverage of ITI’s policy and advocacy priorities and raises the profile of the organization. This position manages the development and implementation of ITI’s digital content and strategy and oversees a manager-level role. This position requires the ability to understand complex policy issues and craft strategies that garner media attention in a fast-paced advocacy organization. The Director reports to the SVP of Communications.


Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of five years of experience in policy communications or public relations and communications experience in government, trade associations, think tanks or a related organization. This position requires experience as an on-the-record spokesperson and communicator on complex topics, including policy, regulatory and legal topics as well as experience in proactive press outreach and building relationships with journalists and stakeholders. ITI seeks individuals with excellent professional writing skills and experience in crisis communications.
