Job Description
The Office of the Lieutenant Governor oversees elections throughout the state and informs Utah’s voters of the election process. In addition to these duties, the Office also administers notary public commissions, document authentication, city and town incorporations, lobbyist regulations, boundary certifications, and campaign finance disclosure compliance.
The Office is looking for a dedicated individual to serve as an elections coordinator responsible for managing election responsibilities and special projects. Those responsibilities will include assisting the public, candidates, and voters with election related inquiries, working with assigned county clerks throughout the state to ensure their needs are met, providing assistance and training to county and city officials regarding election laws and processes, and helping with the day-to-day administration of the Lieutenant Governor’s Office.
The position is also responsible for managing special projects related to election administration. Projects are “as assigned,” but they may include helping with official election communications, implementing new legislation, or compiling data sets. In addition to working closely with the elections team to perform election tasks, the position will work directly with vendors, state agencies, local election officials, nonprofits, and constituents.
This position will work within the Lieutenant Governor’s Office, which is responsible for fulfilling the lieutenant governor’s statutory duties. Although this position is career service exempt, the job is not political and will not be involved in any political campaign. In person work is required approximately three days a week, and every day during certain busier periods.
