The Team You’ll Work With
The Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs (MOIA) promotes the wellbeing of immigrant communities by
working on policies, programs, and community engagement strategies that facilitate successful
integration of immigrant New Yorkers into the civic, economic, and cultural life of the City. MOIA works
across a broad range of issues citywide and MOIA works closely with sister cities around the country to
advocate for immigration reform and share best practices.

The Problems You’ll Solve
MOIA seeks a Communications and Strategic Projects Coordinator, who will join a dynamic team in a
fast-paced work environment. Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Communications and
Strategic Projects Coordinator will play a key role in the planning, execution, and on-time delivery of
deliverables on numerous key initiatives and projects across the office.

The Communications and Strategic Projects Coordinator will play a critical role in the development and
execution of effective communications strategies designed to connect immigrant New Yorkers to
critical information, external community partners to funding opportunities, and leading internal
communications at MOIA. This role will also work closely in coordinating a variety of projects between
multiple teams at MOIA and at times with other city agencies.



In this role, the Communications and Strategic Projects Coordinator will have key responsibilities,
including:

  • Immigrant Media Engagement: Work with the Director of Communications to create and
distribution of press releases, op-ed articles, statements that highlight MOIA’s initiatives,
achievements, and stances on immigration policies, with an emphasis on multilingual content.
  • Social Media Management: Help craft and execute policy driven social media campaigns, social
media toolkits, and draft digital content for MOIA’ social media channels including Twitter,
Instagram, Facebook, and others.
  • Event Strategy and Execution: Organize high-impact press conferences, media interviews, and
immigrant media roundtables to highlight the work of the office, city resources available to
immigrant New Yorkers, and executive leadership.
  • Data Management: Update data bases of non-profits, community partners, and media outlets
that serve immigrants.
  • Strategic Initiative Projects: Work with various teams to plan, coordinate and advance strategic
initiative projects from concept to implementation; including but not limited to flag raising
events, immigrant heritage celebrations and others.
  • Community Engagement: Craft a bi-weekly e-newsletter to engage with MOIA’s funded
community partners to share city resources and services.
  • Perform other related assignments and strategic initiatives, as directed.
About You
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field with at least two years of work experience.
  • Outstanding collaboration and team building skills with proven abilities in working with various
levels of staff.
  • Self-starter who can take initiative and work both individually and as part of a team.
  • Excellent analytic, organization, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Experience serving immigrant communities or providing language services is preferred.
  • Effective management of multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-pressure work environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office products, as well as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and other
social media platforms.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Salary
The City of New York Office of the Mayor’s compensation package includes a market competitive
salary, equity for all full-time roles and exceptional benefits. Our cash compensation range for this role
is $55,000 to $65,000.
