Job Description
Senator Mazie K. Hirono seeks an experienced Digital Director to join her team in Washington, DC. The successful candidate will run an aggressive online outreach strategy while working collaboratively to develop social media and online content to highlight the Senator’s work in Hawaii and Washington. They will amplify traditional communications efforts to reach a broader audience, while developing rapid responses to breaking news and current events.
Responsibilities include developing long and short-term digital strategies, drafting original content and regularly posting to social media accounts, creating sharable infographic and video content, maintaining the office’s website, and overseeing the technical execution of office-hosted livestreamed events. Applicants must have photo/video shooting and editing experience, including short-form and long-form video editing, and be familiar with Adobe Creative Suite programs and/or Final Cut Pro.
This is not an entry level position. Two to three years of previous digital communications experience, on Capitol Hill and/or campaigns, or at a communications firm, is required. Ideal applicant is entrepreneurial, comfortable working on tight deadlines, detail oriented, social media savvy, and a strong writer.
