Position

We are seeking a Campaign Manager for a democratic County Executive campaign in one of Maryland’s 4 largest counties. You will collaborate closely with a seasoned team of consultants and a deeply involved group of community leaders in carrying out your responsibilities, while interacting regularly with other candidates, elected officials, donors, advocates, and voters. The campaign will involve a competitive primary and general election, with an expectation the campaign manager will stay on for the general. 


As a key leader on the campaign team, the Campaign Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day functions of the campaign and successful implementation of the campaign plan.


Qualifications

  • Composure in stressful environments
  • Tactful, patient interactions with volunteers and the public 
  • Experience with political campaigns, including hard skills like:
  • Targeting, turf building, data management, and communication via NGPVAN
  • Managing delivery of services via consultants
  • Building and maintaining budgets 
  • Familiarity with relevant tech platforms for auto dialing and texting 
  • Systems building around ongoing tasks like volunteer recruitment and management, calendar hygiene, and fundraising compliance


Responsibilities in the Role 

Employment is contingent on an ongoing expectation of reliability, professionalism, and openness to on-the-job training. This includes:


  • Punctuality and responsiveness 
  • Ability to regularly meet metric driven goals
  • Availability for night and weekend work
  • Comfort engaging on the ground in all communities 


Specific responsibilities include: 


Campaign Plan: Work with the General Consultant to draft and implement a winning campaign plan that outlines the campaign’s efforts through Election Day, including fundraising, canvassing, phonebanking, volunteer recruitment, grassroots outreach, and local media relations.


Candidate Management: Manage the candidate’s time by scheduling fundraising calls, fundraisers, political calls, meet and greets, visibility events, canvassing, and endorsement interviews. Keep the candidate on schedule and on task. Always make sure they have the preparation and information needed to succeed.


Staffing: Availability to serve as the candidate’s body person for relevant events and meetings, including moving the candidate through the event, maintaining new contact information, and avoiding undesirable photos/mic moments.


Volunteer Recruitment and Management: Use the candidate’s personal contacts, political clubs, and local connections to recruit, train and manage campaign volunteers. Secure commitments throughout the cycle and assign relevant tasks.


Field Planning and Execution: Work with the General Consultant to draft and implement a field plan that meets voter contact goals, including cutting and logging turf, prepping canvass packets or MiniVAN, prepping phone banks and text banks, launching voter contact efforts, maintaining data hygiene, and training volunteers and/or staff so as to scale these efforts.


Communications: In consultation with the General Consultant, serve as the campaign contact for local and statewide media, staff candidate for press opportunities, maintain candidates’ social media platforms, and look for new opportunities to engage potential voters. 


Compensation

The salary range for the position is $6,000 - $7,000 per month commensurate with experience.
