Government Relations Associate (project-based)

About the Opportunity 

The Government Relations Associate will work closely with the Government Relations team to coordinate government participation at CGI events including the Annual Meeting. They will serve as CGI’s point-of-contact for some multilateral organizations and government officials and will assist the Government Relations team in strengthening CGI's existing relationships and developing new relationships relevant to our programming. This position requires in-depth knowledge of current events and international relations, as well as superb communication skills and attention to detail in tracking all interactions. The ideal candidate will have experience engaging with government officials and executing their participation at events.

This is a project-based role from May 1, 2024 - October 4, 2024, and is open to NYC or remote based candidates. 

Core Responsibilities  

  • Facilitate government representation at CGI events by conducting research, participating in meetings, and writing briefing memos. 
  • Coordinate with some government officials and multilateral organizations and serve as their point-of-contact. Manage invitations and follow-ups in a timely fashion and respond to any inquiries. 
  • Maintain and update CGI's constituent relationship databases and all tracking spreadsheets to ensure our records are accurate and up-to-date. 
  • Research and track relevant elections and other current events. 
  • Other responsibilities, particularly in September ahead of the Annual Meeting, might include: Training Annual Meeting volunteers; Assisting with advance and security walk-throughs; Greeting and escorting government officials on-site at the Annual Meeting. 

Minimum Qualifications  

What we’re looking for: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, degree in political science, government, or a related field preferred
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in the field required
  • Experience interacting with high-level officials and executing large-scale events preferred
  • Excellent email etiquette, research, and writing ability 
  • Strong intercultural communication, preferably from diplomatic or protocol experience 

Compensation & Benefits 

Our best estimate of the compensation range for this opportunity is $52 - 57K annually, depending on the experience you bring. This role is eligible for overtime pay. This range is based on NYC market rates and may be adjusted if you will be working remotely. We look forward to discussing our compensation pricing strategy, and your expectations, throughout the interview process.
