Summary: Assists citizens, candidates, and elected officials with election-related questions and research, and maintains governmental records and documents

Essential Duties and Responsibilities** include the following:

· Answers questions from citizens, candidates, elected officials, and others about types of elections, how to file and run for office, lobbyist registrations, holding dual offices, and other election law-related topics.

· Assist citizens and others with research related to elections and election history.

· Assists candidates for public office with filing procedures and campaign finance laws.

· Ensures that signatures on petitions are verified, elections results are certified, and related reports are completed.

· Assists other staff in ensuring that public information held by the office is accessible and accurate on the website.

· Maintains and updates a myriad of governmental and regulatory files and computer records including, but not limited to, those involving governor’s appointments to board and commissions, House and Senate journals, legislative acts, campaign records, contribution reports, lobbyist information, political action committee reports, city annexations, Census Bureau records, certifications and apostilles of elected official, oaths of elected officials, initiative, referendums, and Federal Election Commission reports.

· Assists counties with the production and creation of county districting maps.

· Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities: No supervisory responsibilities.

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in political science or related field from four-year college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions; produce manual and legal documents. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence; effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to citizens, candidates, legislators, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical/Reasoning Skills: Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid driver’s license preferred

Physical Demands: The employee may be required to sit, stand, kneel, and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move 10-25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision*.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $35,000.00 per year
