Responsible for supporting public relations programs and leading national media relations for AT&T’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) organization with a special focus on Sustainability and Digital Divide company-wide initiatives. This lead manager role will work closely with the director of communications & PR and colleagues across the Corporate Communications team to build and execute strategic, proactive media relations plans.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the creation and delivery of strategic PR plans.
  • Build and maintain media relationships with top-tier news outlets and identify proactive opportunities for favorable earned press coverage to advance AT&T corporate social responsibility (CSR) and digital divide priorities.
  • Write clear and concise media pitches and create prep documents ahead of executive interviews.
  • Responsible for content development, including Op-Eds, press releases, and key messaging.
  • Mine for organic stories and participate in regular brainstorm sessions to solidify story approaches and angles.
  • Demonstrate superior organizational skills, including maintaining proactive media pitch calendar and hits tracker.
  • Work cross-functionally with internal clients and partners (i.e., regional media team, public affairs, employee communications) and attend meetings, as needed.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Job Requirements:

  • 5 to 8 years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, journalism or related field.
  • Demonstrate outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Develop public relations materials, including and/or review press releases, blogs, social media posts, opinion editorials and contributed articles, social media content.
  • Source and create stories for Corporate Responsibility team that showcase positive impact of our programs and initiative.
  • Co-manage and evaluate incoming speaking requests to determine and manage appropriate format, content, and deliverables end-to-end with key stakeholders.
  • Proactively seek out speaking and authorship opportunities aligned to thought leadership priorities.
  • Collaborate with employees, team members and third-party organizations to unearth impactful stories and synthesize talking points and messaging from other teams.
  • Measure the outcomes of engagements to evaluate impact, learn, and improve.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key journalists, influencers and key stakeholders in local, regional and national markets to support the communications strategy.

Existing media relationships in education, environment, technology a plus.

  • Strong program management skills.
  • Demonstrate superior organizational skills, ability to respond in a timely manner to urgent requests and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Available outside regular hours, including travel, if needed.

Education:

  • Bachelor of Arts degree or Bachelor of Science degree preferred.

Our Lead Manager Communications & PR, earn between $105,600 - $158,400. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
