Reporting to Managing Director, the Senior Program Officer is responsible for the analysis, research and writing associated with strategic and development activities. S/he will produce materials such as plan of operations, funding proposals, and communications materials. Also, s/he will coordinate the University’s Board of Trustees meetings. This a full-time position based in Cambridge, MA, and value flexibility to work on different projects.
Proposal and grants management & development - 40%
- Write proposals, concepts notes, and letters for new prospects
- Produce internal and external donor-related communications such as funding proposals and grant reports. Other materials may include prospect research on new donors, media releases, letters to external constituents, and presentations to donors
Board of Trustees Communication – 40%
Revitalizing Board of Trustees Committee Meetings
- Schedule committee meetings and issue calendar invitations
- Work with AUW leadership and committee chairs to generate agendas
- Host committee meetings; record and circulate notes.
- Establish and maintain an archive for meeting records.
Clerking Board of Trustees Meetings
- Maintain Board of Trustees roster and update as required
- Ensure calendar invites are issued to all Board members at least one month prior to meetings
- Facilitate process to generate Board agenda and materials 2-3 weeks before meeting date; circulate agenda and materials at least 1 week in advance of meeting.
Plan of Operations and other communications materials– 20%
- Draft a full Plan of Operations/Strategic Plan, including narrative, exhibits, testimonials to support AUW mission and goals.
- Incorporate critical elements of growth plan [student population, pedagogical philosophy/curriculum, faculty & staff, student services, online presence, accreditation, physical plant, budget projections]
- Circulate draft to stakeholders for review.
Refinement of Plan of Operations/Strategic Plan
- Create presentation to guide stakeholders through key questions.
- Meet with stakeholders to review draft Plan of Operations and gather feedback.
- Implement suggestions/edits. Re-circulate for approval.
Publication of Plan of Operations/Strategic Plan
Professional Experience/Qualifications
Excellent communications, writing, and research skills are required; Five years of relevant work experience is preferred; A Master’s degree is required. Please email your cover letter, resume, and three writing samples to hr@asian-university.org.
