About Apiary for Practical Support
Apiary for Practical Support (aka Apiary) offers technical assistance to groups that provide logistical care to people seeking abortions. Collaborating with practical support organizations (PSOs) and community members, we co-create and exchange information, resources, and materials for folks to use and adapt. We offer non-judgmental, non-prescriptive thought partnership for PSOs and PS-curious movement workers seeking support on how to improve or expand their programs and operations. We create spaces for PSOs to be in relationship with one another and collaborate toward shared goals.
Organizational Philosophy
Apiary emphasizes transparent, collaborative, and trustful leadership that offers staff autonomy in their work and participation in decision making as it relates to their roles. While we acknowledge the technical hierarchy of the organization, we operate from a democratic and collaborative space—a hive working together, seeking each other’s counsel and expertise, supporting each other in the organization’s growth as well as our own professional growth.
We aim to be an anti-racist organization and are committed to doing the work needed to identify and dismantle systems of oppression, both within our organization and our area at large. Our values include collaboration, experimentation, reproductive justice, the democratizing of information, and the centering of joy and rest. Read more about these values here.
