Position Overview:
The Economic Alliance is seeking a dynamic and motivated Communications and Outreach Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing our organization’s visibility and engagement within the community. This position requires strong communication skills, a passion for public relations, and the ability to effectively connect with diverse audiences. The Communications and Outreach Specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing outreach strategies that promote our mission and services.
Primary duties include being responsible for developing, implementing, and supporting communication strategies, business outreach and organizing events that promote Economic Development and Small Business Assistance and initiatives provided to Okanogan County communities.
Job responsibilities.
The candidate must have the skills and experience to perform the following essential duties.
- Develop and execute outreach programs that effectively communicate our goals and initiatives to the community.
- Engage with various stakeholders, including community organizations, media outlets, small businesses and the public to foster relationships and partnerships.
- Create compelling press releases and promotional materials to enhance media relations and public awareness.
- Conduct research to identify target markets and assess outreach effectiveness.
- Organize and participate in community events, workshops, and presentations to promote our services.
- Write clear and persuasive content for newsletters, social media, and other communication channels.
- Proofread all written materials to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to organizational style guidelines.
- Collaborate with team members to develop innovative outreach strategies that align with organizational objectives.
- Conduct business outreach visits to businesses and attend Chamber Meetings within Okanogan County.
- Assist in the design of content for a variety of communication platforms, including social media, newsletters, newspapers, Economic Alliance website and other digital media.
- Ensure all communications and events reflect the values and branding of the Economic Alliance and the communities we serve.
- Distribute communications materials throughout Okanogan County and the communities to ensure effective outreach, engagement, and awareness of programs, events, and initiatives.
- Track the effectiveness of communication and engagement efforts, providing regular reports and recommendations for improvement.
- Plan and execute Economic Alliance events and community outreach activities to engage, educate the communities on our programs and services.
- Coordinate the ordering of promotional items as it relates to specific events and ensure timeliness of delivery.
- Assess economic development issues, trends, and high-impact solutions during outreach visits.
- Compile required reports and input data into our contracted databases as directed by the Executive Director.
- Meet specific targets for unique company visits and services according to our grants and programs.
- Serve as brand ambassador for the Economic Alliance by attending events, seeking out public speaking opportunities and developing relevant content, marketing events and programs for the business community.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
PRIMARILY INTERFACES WITH:
Economic Alliance staff and Board, chambers, business owners and community leaders.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience
- Proven experience in public relations or a related field is preferred.
- Strong public speaking skills with the ability to communicate effectively in various settings.
- Excellent writing skills with experience in crafting press releases and promotional content.
- Familiarity with media relations and an understanding of how to engage effectively with journalists.
- Strong research skills to analyze market trends and audience needs.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong proofreading capabilities to ensure high-quality communication materials.
- Experience working with Diverse Communities
- Demonstrated success meeting targets, project goals and deadlines
Education
- Associates Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or related field or
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Economic Development, Public Relations, Marketing, Planning and Development, or related field or equivalent work experience- preferred but not required.

OTHER:
This is a full-time position requiring occasional evening and weekend work. You must have reliable transportation and possess a valid driver’s license.
Must be comfortable working in various settings. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office.
COMPENSATION:
Hourly Wage Range: $25.00-$30.00 per hour and Annual Wage Range $52,000-$62,400 per year DOE
The Economic Alliance offers competitive compensation and benefits, including, medical , dental, vision, simple IRA and paid time off after a 60 day probation period.
