Summary

This position is located in the National Weather Service (NWS), Office of the Assistant Administrator (OAA), International Activities Office (IAO), with one vacancy in Silver Spring, MD.

Responsibilities

As a Foreign Affairs Specialist, you will perform the following duties:

Support the Director of International Activities in managing the implementation and operation of meteorological and hydrological programs outside the United States under bilateral and multilateral agreements within the International Activities Office (IAO), National Weather Service (NWS), National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the United States Government (USG).

Monitor developing political situations and keep well-informed of international programs that impact the National Weather Service (NWS).

Confer with analysts within the U.S. embassies, other U.S. government agencies, international organizations, foreign governments, and non-governmental organizations to develop information, obtain clarification of divergent viewpoints and build consensus for an acceptable course of action.

Contribute to the development and coordination of NOAA international policy and provide support for the Permanent Representative to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and leadership of NWS in support of bilateral agreements.
